I wrote a post all about celebrating love for valentines day but then it hit me – what do you do when your not feeling the love? There can be a lot of pressure to perform on V-day. To get the chocolates, get the gifts, get sexy or whatever it may be. I have always been someone that loves the concept of the idea (a love day) and although I don’t buy into consumerism and hallmark I do celebrate it in my own way. Usually, I would do something romantic like write a poem, make a gift, or go for a nice dinner.
This year my cup isn’t full to do that. So what to do?
Fill it of course.
This Valentines day I am chilling out. Yes, I am allowing myself to receive in my full feminine glory, without guilt. Why? Because damn I deserve it. For the first time ever, I am only going to do what I want and what I feel like on v-day. I have been exploring my own love language recently (how I feel and show love) and have decided to apply that to myself.
Our love language can be being told we are loved, being held, being wanted, sensual pleasures, feeling cared for, feeling heard, feeling safe, touch etc.
If you’re not feeling the love, how can you take a pause and fill yourself back up? It doesn’t have to be complicated, it can be as simple as a beautiful rose hot chocolate. As women, we give a lot and don’t even notice till we are burnt out that we have given too much. It is okay to just receive. It is okay to not have to perform. It is okay to just be you as you are right now. You don’t have to put on a fake face and pretend. Love is acceptance and appreciation of who you really are. Don’t be afraid to ask for what you need this V-day. Maybe its being cared for, maybe its quiet time, maybe its being alone, maybe it’s a date with your girlfriends. You get to decide what you do, you are your own boss. Don’t let society put expectations on you that you don’t want to carry.
Here is something I really enjoy drinking, it warms my soul and heart!
Rose Hot Chocolate
- dried rose petals- Add as many as you like. I usually use a big pinch
- real cocoa powder 1 tbsp (if you have Harmonic Arts hot chocolate blend you can add it instead)
- honey- as much as you like
- oat milk – 1 cup
- coconut oil- 1/2 tsp
- dash of cinnamon and cardamon
I warm up the oat milk with the rose petals, cinnamon, cardamom and cocoa, coconut oil in it. Once it comes to a boil. I let it simmer for a minute or two- let it sit for 5 mins. Put it in the blender with the honey and blend. Serve! Yummmmm
I hope your cup is overflowing with love and if it isn’t, fill it! ❤
Have a beautiful day everyone! xoxo
